Creation and Purpose of Lake Association
- Preservation, protect, manage, and improve water quality, the natural environment and ecology of Christie Lake
- Promote water and recreational safety, sportsmanship, and adherence to lawful use of the lake.
Guest – Van Buren County Marine Deputy – Jared Rotzien
- Jared explained that Van Buren County Marine Deputy would normally be called out to the lake by homeowners.
- There was a question about what, as a homeowner, you can do to your beach front. He explained that this is in an area for the DNR, but as a homeowner that lives in the North Cove where quite a bit of debris washing up, when clean your beach area please remove it from the water. Also, there was a discussion about the use of pesticides and how if they are used close to the shoreline, they will wash into the lake.
- There was a discussion about areas of no wake, which are 100 feet from the shoreline and 50 feet from boats and piers. Keeping this in mind, the North Cove, which we have families that swim out to the center of, is truly a no wake area.

Opened meeting up for discussion:
- A discussion was brought to the group about weeds, specifically Milfoil.
- It was brought to the group’s attention that boats are making circles in the areas where milfoil is located and cutting them with the props of boats. There was a discussion about how this will cause the milfoil to be cut and spread throughout the lake.
- Charlie Arnone gave very good information about milfoil and different information regarding ways to treat milfoil.
It was decided that it would be best to form a committee to discuss this further.
July 4 boat parade - 4th is a Monday 2p.m EDT – Counter-clockwise around lake. Hold the eco friendly balloon and water fight until the end.
Meeting ended at 1:00pm
